Renwick Harrison Gilmore made his arrival on December 26, 1961, to Johnnie Harrison and Marilyn Ford Gilmore at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. There he joined his brother Ronnie and later the boys welcome a baby sister, Carolyn into the family. The Gilmores lived the life of a military family until Johnnie retired from the Navy and moved them back to Texas.
Renwick was educated in Houston ISD and attended Jesse H. Jones High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corp in 1980 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1984. He later studied at Pepperdine University.
He accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sherman West. He was called into Ministry March of 1978 and preached his first sermon that year at the age of 16. For over 40 years Dr. R. H. Gilmore preached the uncompromising Gospel in local churches and throughout the state as an evangelist. He was called to Pastor two churches: Pleasant Hill B.C, Dayton and South New Hope in Franklin.
Dr. Gilmore met Reta Hamilton Ette in 1984 while preaching a revival at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Belvieu and they married in 1993. Together they raised her daughter; Audrey. As a couple, Dr. & Sister Gilmore helped to mentor and raise young folk their entire marriage.
On November 8, 2018, Once again Dr. Gilmore answered the call of God and transitioned to glory.
He is proceeded in death by his Father, Johnnie Harrison Gilmore, and his Brother Ronnie Gilmore and both sets of grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his Wife, Rita Hamilton Gilmore and Stepdaughter Audrey Ette Kent (Ethan); his Mother, Marilyn Ford Gilmore; Sister, Carolyn Gilmore Jolivette (Peter); Two Nephews: Tannon Gilmore and Trayveon Gilmore; Three Aunts: Erma Evans, Naomi DeBose, Mattie West (James); One Uncle Edward Ford and a host of relatives and friends.
