Mr. Baxter Gill Obituary

In life, everyone is given an assignment. It's Obvious that Baxter Bernard Gill's assignment was to show people how to enjoy and live life to the fullest.

Baxter was born on September 23, 1962, and became a strong, resilient and determined soul that impacted all who knew him. His parents, Oraline Kissentaner and the late Jimmie Goodie, we're proud of their son Baxter, who, by all accounts, was "one-of-a-kind"

Although Baxter grew up in Houston, Texas, he enjoyed spending his holidays with his family in Dubach, Louisiana, where he cherished many loving memories over the years. Baxter served his country with the United States Army after he received his formal education in 1981 form Community High School in the Houston Independent School District.

At an early age, Baxter learned the art of entrepreneurship. To satisfy his passion for entrepreneurship and innovation, he partnered with his brothers James, Todd and Uncle Gaylord

to create, "Gillustrations, Inc."  Later, Baxter partnered with his brother Todd to form, "Cotton Canvas B&T." During Baxter's entrepreneurial years he became knows as an innovative master of screen printing and embroidery. Baxter was well known all over Houston, for his extraordinary skills for perfecting the art of screen printing. He continued to spread his joy of life as he became a truck driver for Coastal Transport of Houston.

Those who knew Baxter had the privilege of experiencing his unforgettable presence through his love of life. Baxter was always the life of the family with contagious laughter and boisterous voice that always introduced him before his presence was seen. As he loved life to the fullest, Baxter truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends while attending events such as crawfish festivals, beach parties, and barbeques. Baxter relished time spent with his kids, attending events such as carnivals, visiting the Houston Zoo and horseback riding. Although Baxter will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and laughter will always remain as a reminder that we must- as he did - live life to the fullest.

Baxter united in marriage with the late Cassandra Tezeno-Gill. From this union, they blended their families into one and had two beautiful children.

On Saturday, February 2, 2019, Baxter completed his earthly assignment while making his journey into God's loving arms. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cassandra Tezeno-Gill; father, Jimmie Goodie; and grandfather James Gill.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his beautiful children, Shalonda, Mariah, Colby, Kalvyn, Demetric(Kristina) and Ashton; five grandchildren. He also leaves his beautiful mother, Oraline Kissentaner; brothers, James Gill (Quanda), Todd Gill (Kimberly) and Joel Goodie (LaShawn); sisters, Denise Crow and Darlene Salvage (T.J.); and a host of family and friends.
