Charles Rutledge Randle (“Ricky”) was born on July 9, 1947, to James and Lula Mae Randle, Sr. in Houston, TX. Charles was the youngest of three children until the loving addition of his adopted sister.
Charles was a true delight to all he encountered. With an infectious personality and undeniable charm, he never met any strangers. From his strict upbringing to early adulthood, he befriended several people and created lifetime connections that he cherished.
Eager to excel financially and educationally, Charles graduated from Worthing High School. Post receipt of his diploma he attended Texas Southern University where he enjoyed the campus “yard”, student centers, and community social spots. He mastered the game of pool on his downtime. During this time, he met and married Katie Randle of which three children were born.
Charles afforded his family a suburban, middle-class lifestyle through his extended tenure at Maxwell House and many entrepreneurial endeavors. He owned a lucrative car detail shop which correlated to his love for automobiles.
Charles continued to live an adventurous life which included activities such as traveling, fishing, riding motorcycles, caring for his dogs, home improvement projects, attending festivals, social courting, and many others.
He was a compassionate man that always spoke his mind. Examples of his generosity include gifts of love to family and friends as well as donations to supported charities. Charles held a unique love for his children, grandchildren, extended family, and close friends. He maintained an active, single lifestyle until his health began to decline.
