Mr. Clyde Chapron Jr. Obituary

Clyde Bruno “Rabbit” Chapron Jr. was born on April 11, 1947 in New Orleans, LA. to Wilhelmina Lacey Chapron and Clyde Bruno Chapron Sr. He was baptized at All Saints Catholic Church at an early age where he also served as an altar boy. Clyde attended All Saints Catholic School and graduated from Xavier Prep High School in 1965. At Xavier Prep he was the class Vice President, participated two years on the football team and four years on the championship basketball team.

Clyde enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on March 25, 1966 and participated in the Vietnam War at 19 years old. As a result, he received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and Pistol Expert Badge. After being honorably discharged due to a knee injury Clyde came home and attended Loyola University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commercial Science in May of 1973.

On July 3, 1968 Clyde married his high school sweetheart, the late Sandra Carr, and to this union five children were born. They were married 27 years until she lost her battle with cancer on May 30, 1997. Clyde was fortunate to find love again and on January 16, 1999 he married Susan Green and to this union one child was born.

Throughout the majority of Clyde’s professional career, he managed international container shipping companies and worked in multiple roles for the federal government. He retired in 2009 from the United States Post  Office and has spent the majority of his leisure time following his youngest daughter’s volleyball career and going to the casino. Even when he was not feeling well he always had enough energy to watch her play. This is consistent with his entire life of supporting all of his children and grandchildren in their day to day lives and extracurricular activities.
