Attorney, Waldo Sargent

Attorney Waldo Sargent was the youngest of four children born to loving parents, Philip H. Sargent Sr. and Senora S. Sargent of Houston, Texas. Ever vigilant and curious, he began his early education at Gregory Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. He went on to higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in music education at Texas Southern University. He soon embarked on his career in College Station at Lincoln High School as band director. After this work experience, though enjoyable, this proud young man was a dedicated advocate for justice. Therefore, Waldo received his legal education at Thurgood Marshall School of Law. There, he developed a knowledge and passion that shaped his distinguished career as an attorney. Throughout his years of practice, he earned the respect of colleagues, clients, and members of the community through his professionalism, integrity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to serving others. 

Beyond his legal and professional accomplishments, Waldo was a devoted man of faith and a faithful member of St. Luke Evangelist Episcopal Church. His walk with Christ was evident in his role as a Sunday School leader, Bible Study, and many other auxiliaries. His strong spiritual foundation guided his life, reinforced his service, and allowed him to be a source of wisdom, encouragement, and steadiness for his church and community.  

A true Renaissance man, Waldo cultivated a remarkable breadth of skills and talents, casually demonstrating his wealth of knowledge in his spare time. He found great fulfillment in self-reliance, with determination to see things through. He delighted in his years playing clarinet for the band, working on cars, riding his horse, sharpshooting, tending to his garden, and he was one of the top grill and smoke masters if there ever was one. 

Our dear friend and loved one was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara and his brothers Alonza and Harold Sargent

Waldo leaves to cherish his memory his son, Kevin (Carolina), his daughter, Sheryl (Roderick), ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his devoted sister, Bernice S. Webster, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dear friends, Samuel Chagois and Robert Hill.
