Dr. Fred E.E. Johnson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend entered eternal rest on September 16, 2025. He was born on February 16, 1945, to the late Arion & Jessie Mae Johnson in New Ulm, Texas. At an early age, he accepted Christ, was baptized, and remained faithful in his walk, attending Lakewood Church. Fred’s life was defined by hard work, service, and a deep love for his family. He graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1964. While attending Yates, he began playing football and acquired the nickname, Ruffhouse because of his great athletic talent. He then received a Bachelor of Arts from Wiley University, and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. These early accomplishments paved the way for a long-accomplished career and becoming a published author. His passion for justice and fairness inspired many lives, both personally and professionally.
Fred was also a proud Third Degree Mason, a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., & Wiley University Alumni. His brothers in the fraternity will remember him as a man of honor, faith, & discipline.
Fred will be remembered as a man of great intelligence, wisdom, strength, honorable leadership, humor, and whose unwavering love for his family was evident in all he did. His legacy endures through the countless lives he touched and the powerful example he set for those who knew him. He received additional joy by caring for his beloved horses, working the land at his home, and providing love, guidance, and support to his family.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Carleen Johnson; his daughter, Danielle Anderson (Rudolph); stepdaughters, Shameika Laddie (Nigel) and Daniella Archie; stepson, Dr. Hank Polk, sister, Iris Orise; brother, Arion Johnson Jr, seven cherished grandchildren who were the light of his life, & a host of nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Joyce M. Johnson, mother of his daughter, Danielle Anderson.
