Mr. Cornell Godsey Obituary

Cornell Godsey, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on March 29, 1943, in Egypt, Texas, to the late Alberta Blunston Godsey and Lafayette Godsey. He peacefully departed this life on January 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication.

At an early age, Cornell accepted Christ and became a faithful member of Sandridge Baptist Church. His faith guided him throughout his life. He attended Hungerford High School and graduated in 1961. Known for his strong work ethic, Cornell wore many hats during his working years. He was employed at 7UP and WKM before eventually starting his own business, Godsey’s Lawn Service. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family.

On April 11, 1964, Cornell married the love of his life, Hallie Marie. Together, they shared 60 years of marriage built on love, and partnership. From their union came three daughters. He cherished his family deeply and valued every moment spent with them.

Cornell’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the love he shared so freely.

Cornell was preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Lafayette Godsey; his sister, Lou Alice; his brother, Raymond Bankston; and his beloved wife, Hallie Godsey.

A man filled with love, Cornell leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Regina (Gary), Jannell, and Allison; and his son, Keith. He was a proud grandfather to Chelsea (Corlon), Desiree’ (Shay) Gary (Andrea), Felise’ (Aaron) Connor, his bonus granddaughter, Jecil (Brandon) and a joyful great-grandfather to Tyce, Callie, and Piper. He is also survived by his sister, Leona, and his twin brother, Dornell (Flora). Cornell leaves behind extended children and grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
