Franklin Delano Blackman was born on September 23, 1941 to the late Rev. Neely & Katherine Blackman in Brenham Texas. He was the second child of nine children. At an early age he professed his hope in Christ and united with Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Brenham. After graduating from Jack Yates High School in Houston Texas he studied at University of North Texas in Denton as well as Texas Southern University in Houston. After serving in the US Army he worked for Exxon before retiring.
Proceeding Franklin in death is his wife, Dorothy Blackman, brothers: Freddie Samuel, Ronald O’hara, Ellwood Wayne, and Michael Elroy. He leaves to cherish and celebrate his precious memories: daughter- Candace Elaine Blackman, grandson- Cameron Saint John Lewis, brothers- Rev. Neely Lanier & Mattie Blackman, Rev. Glenn Maurice & Cynthia Blackman, John Bernard Blackman, his beloved sister- Beverly Ann Blackman, cousin and friend- Reginald Elliot; Rubie McCullough, Brenda & Zeb Cantley, Eldoris Richardson, Marian & Joseph Whetsell, all from Tyler Texas.
