Mr. Fred Montgomery Obituary

Fred Earl Montgomery, who was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather was born on October 10th, 1939 in Durant, Mississippi to the late Bilbo Montgomery and Edith Carson. He was the oldest of five children. He and his family moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he graduated High School and joined the U.S. Army. Fred received an Honorable discharge in 1958 and moved to Chicago, Illinois then back to St. Louis, Missouri.

Fred met Shirley Ann Griffith in St. Louis in 1964. He married Shirley in 1965 then moved to Los Angeles, California. To that union came, Marie and Alfred Montgomery were born. Fred was later baptized at Peace Apostolic Church in Carson, California.

He worked for Carnation Milk and drove for Greyhound Bus company for over 35 years, where he later retired and moved to Missouri City, Texas in November of 2004. After moving to Texas, he became bored and worked at H.E.B. grocery store as a greeter and picked fishing as a past time.

He is preceded in death by his brother Floyd.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Shirley Montgomery; sisters, Barbara, Juanita and Rosie; children, Marie Harrison, and Alfred Montgomery; grandchildren, Jasmine Harrison, Jaelyn Collins, Jade (Aaron) Williams, Schuyler Montgomery and Alfred (AJ) Montgomery, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jules Williams and Cameron Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who have enriched his life immeasurably.
