Harold Len Tate was born on December 16, 1969 in Los Angeles, California to
Carolyn and Hilton Tate Sr.
At a young age he moved to Houston, Texas where he was raised by parents
Abraham and Carolyn Berry. Harold was educated in the Houston Public School
System and graduated from Aldine Senior High School in 1988.
Harold married the love of his life Yolanda (Steward) on October 9, 1998. Their
love created and blended three beautiful children: Harold Tate Jr, Trevon Tate,
and Tamarea Tate. He was employed at the City of Houston for 27 years and
retired as an Assistant Manager of Houston Public Works on July 31, 2020.
Harold accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Berean Baptist Church
Houston. He and his family joined Overcomers Community Church on March 3,
2019 under the leadership of Pastor Anthony R. Perry. He was ordained as a
Deacon of the church on March 8, 2020 and was a faithful member until he
became ill.
Harold was a loving husband, father, brother, friend, and confidant to many more.
He acquired many friends throughout his life and was known for having a big
heart. He was a person who would help anyone in need. His loving spirit will leave
an imprint in everyone’s heart who knew him.
Deacon Harold Tate earthly journey transitioned to eternal peace on Monday,
September 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father Hilton Tate Sr. and
brother Hilton Tate Jr.
He leaves to treasure his memory his wife Yolanda Tate; his children Harold Tate
Jr., Trevon Tate, and Tamarea Tate; parents Abraham Berry Sr. and Carolyn Berry;
5 siblings Clifton Ross, Abraham Berry Jr., Derrick Tate, Melvin Tate, and Hilary
Tate; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
