Henry Conway, Jr.

 

was born August 4, 1937, in Blevins, Arkansas to Henry and Vester Conway. He was raised in Blevins, Arkansas and finished school there. He was a Korean War Veteran, enlisted in the United States Army.  After being discharged from the military, he moved to Texas.  In San Antonio, Texas is where he met his now late wife, Mary L. Conway. They were married for 34 years.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his early childhood. Upon moving to Houston, He, his wife and daughter became members of Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Gusta Booker, Jr.  He later re-dedicated his life to Christ and became a member of True Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his brother, Pastor Sylvester Conway, Sr.  He later became a deacon and remained an active member until his health declined.

Henry Conway, Jr.’s purpose was fulfilled and God called him home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 18, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Vester Conway, four brothers, Dan Miller, Jr., Glen Conway, Charlie Terrell, and Winston Conway, son-in-law, Jerome D. Bailey, Sr., granddaughter, Jalecya Denise Bailey, former wife, Mary L. Conway and mother-in-law, Gracie Johnson.

He will be missed greatly by his Daughter: Lisa K. Bailey; Grandson: Jerome D. Bailey, Jr. (John’etra) Sons: Terry Conway, Troy Conway and Kevin Woodard; Brother: Pastor Sylvester Conway, Sr. (Debra); Sisters: Minnie Lee Jefferson and Francis Mitchell (James); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and church family.
