Mr. Preston Morrison Obituary

It is hard to forget a person who has given you so much to remember. From the very beginning, Preston Mahki Lee Morrison radiated light. As he grew, it quickly became clear that he was inquisitive, loving, and someone with a heart that left a mark on everyone he met. With a bright smile that could light up any room and a spirit full of curiosity, Preston made it his mission to spread joy, laughter, and the  love of God with as many people as he could. He lived his life on purpose and with purpose.

He began his academic journey at Settlers Way Elementary, where his bright spirit and kind heart quickly made him a favorite among teachers and classmates alike. He continued on to First Colony Middle School, where he blossomed into a passionate student and a talented young athlete. Preston proudly played both football  and basketball  during his 7th and 8th grade years. As a defensive back on the football team, he helped guide his team to an undefeated season and a championship title during the 2024–2025 school year. His love for sports was matched only by his fierce determination and natural ability to uplift those around him. He was so eager and excited to take the next step in his journey and become an Elkins High School Knight this fall—ready to bring his bright energy, humor, and heart to a new chapter.

Preston gave his life to Christ and was passionate about sharing God’s love and goodness with others. In 2024, he made the important decision to join River Pointe Church (RPC), deepening his connection with God and his community. His faith, like his smile, was strong and unwavering.

Outside of school and church, Preston loved many things—his loyal dog, Stormi ; his bearded dragon, Draco ; gaming on his PlayStation ; hanging out with his friends; and spending time with his family. He was also a little foodie in the making. Whether he was trying something new on vacation or simply tasting whatever was on the table, Preston was down to explore new flavors and always up for any adventure—new places, new tastes, new experiences—he soaked it all in with wide-eyed wonder and a full heart.

From asking a million questions to checking in on everyone around him, Preston had a way of making people feel seen, included, and cared for. He wasn’t afraid to express his love—which is why he received so much of it in return. His clumsy-but-cool charm, joyful presence, and intentional kindness made him unforgettable to everyone who was blessed to know him.

Preston leaves behind his day one—his incredible mom, Avanti; his proud big brother and first best friend, Payton; his baby brothers, Sumner and Samuel; his sweet little sister-cousin, Zoya; his loving grandmother, Charmyn (Layla); his uncle and buddy, Daniel; his grandparents, Ronald and LaToya Freeman; his aunt, Sylvia Freeman; his uncle, Maurice Rivers (wife Z); his cousin, Hendrix Rivers; and a host of close family and friends who adored him deeply.
