On September 8, 1947, Richard Earl Joseph was born in Houston, Texas, to David and Zelma Joseph. The eldest of three boys, Richard attended school in the Houston Independent School District and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1967. He was a proud Yates Lion and continued to attend many school events.
Richard deeply loved his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them. Throughout his life, he held many jobs, but he especially cherished his time at Cameron Irons and Federal Express. After 27 years of dedicated service, he retired from FEDEX in 2015, having formed lifelong friendships with many of his co-workers. In 2016, Richard launched his own business, Joseph Power Washing, which he faithfully operated until his health declined.
Richard cherished his extended family and loved attending the Joseph family reunions. Reuniting with his family brought him immense happiness. After each reunion, he would often begin preparing for the next one as soon as possible after returning home.
An avid cyclist, Richard enjoyed countless rides with friends and colleagues and was a proud member of The Draft Cycling Club.
Richard was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. His faith guided his life, and he served diligently in many ministries. He loved his church, The Fountain of Praise, and worked faithfully with The Brothers in the Gap, The Agape Zone and Praise Production ministries. His greatest joy came from serving in the Adopted Senior Ministry, where he spent time caring for and supporting the seniors of the church. His gentle spirit, kindness, and servant’s heart touched everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and selfless love.
Richard was called to eternal rest on December 4, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don Joseph.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 37 years, Beverly; his children, Traci Evans and R. Earl Joseph, II; his granddaughters, Brianna Evans and Jalynn Burrell; his great-grandson, Bryson Freeman; his brother Harold Joseph (Judi); his niece, Judice Jones (Bobby); his nephews, Reginald Joseph (Erica) and Don Joseph Jr.; and a host of loving family members and dear friends.
