Mr. Richarter Jackson Obituary

Richarter Tolliver Jackson, age 73, of Houston, Texas entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 12, 2025. Richarter was affectionately known as Ricky and infamously regarded as “Slick Rick” for his dapper demeanor and eloquent command of the English language.

Born on October 22, 1951 in Ferriday, Louisiana, Richarter was the oldest son of Audrey Promise (John T. Promise) and Roosevelt Tolliver.

Richarter was a proud veteran of the United States Army, certified police officer, and retired as a distinguished leader and award-winning contributor in the petrochemical industry. He was well respected by his colleagues and revered for his engineering and mathematical ingenuity.

He received the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Freemason and was a proud member of the Shriners International Fraternity. This rare distinction recognized his exceptional service to Freemasonry, his community, and mankind.

His deep faith in God guided him throughout his life, and he was known as a person who kept his word and led with a generous heart and encouragement. He was passionate about education, and he cared deeply about social justice and making sure everyone was treated fairly. If you could find "Slick," it was in the gym, finishing a book, cheering on the San Francisco 49ers or Los Angeles Lakers, or in the kitchen, where he was an avid chef. He was devoted to his fitness and health regiment and encouraged others to do the same.

He leaves to cherish his legacy: his children, Richarter Jackson (Janice), Dr. C.S., Kyna Williams (Robin), and R.A.; grandchildren Iman, Jayda, Robert, Pfalin, Brooke, Blake, and Ayana who he fondly shared with his former wife and life-long friend, Cynthia Alley.

Richarter also leaves behind his cherished siblings Janice Promise, Alex Promise (Shelia), John Promise Jr., Clinton Promise (Mary), Shawana Promise, Vanessa Promise, and Darian Promise, Roosevelt Tolliver Jr., and honorary brother Bruce Tolliver (Sherral) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and admirers.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alberta Burney and Louis Jackson, parents Audrey Promise (John T. Promise) and Roosevelt Tolliver, his faithful pillars Uncle Eddie and Aunt Rosie (Tolliver), and beloved brothers Larry Promise, Ronald Promise, and Don Tolliver.

The family invites those who knew and loved him to remember Ricky in their prayers and to honor his legacy by living with zeal, vigor, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
