Sheldon Fitzgerald Batiste was born at Riverside General Hospital in Third Ward, Houston, TX on Wednesday, December 23, 1964, to Larry and Mae Bell Batiste. He was the 4th of six children in this union. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at The Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Houston where he served on the Usher Board. He attended schools in the Houston Independent School District, graduated from Jesse H. Jones in 1983 and shortly after, joined the U.S. Navy based in San Diego, CA. During his lifetime, he lived in Houston, TX, Missouri City, TX, Atlanta, GA, Marietta, GA, Smyrna, GA, Philadelphia, PA, Linwood, NJ and Mount Ephraim, NJ. He worked as a collections agent at various companies in Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. He married Marcellus “Peaches” Kennedy, four children from this union, Tierra, Kierre, Jamere, and Amerek.
He was preceded In death by his father, Larry Batiste (1992) and wife Marcellus “Peaches” Kennedy Batiste (2015) Sheldon was a fanatic sports fan of all Houston Teams and The Philadelphia Eagles where he got to revel in their Super Bowl LII win in 2018 and an avid domino player with his cousin Leon Miles.
Survivors include: Sons Jamere and Amerek Batiste of Houston, TX, Kierre Kennedy of Philadelphia, PA, Daughter: Tierra Kennedy-McCall of Norristown, PA, four grandchildren Mother: Mae McGee and Stepfather Alexander McGee Jr. of Missouri City, TX, Brothers Lary Batiste (Rachel) of Missouri City, TX, Rickey Batiste of Missouri City, TX, Sisters Yolanda Batiste-Charles of Spring, TX, Lisa Batiste-Davis (Carl) of Missouri City, TX and Kathy Batiste-Lee (Faye) of Rosharon, His two closest cousins: Miyoshi Cash-Stafford and Coda Leon Miles along with a host of other relatives and friends.
