Mr. Steven Bess Obituary

Steven Cortez Bess was born in Washington, DC on September 18, 1970, to the late Steven Andrew Bess and Jeanette (Douglas) Snowden. He attended DC public schools until he was raised by his grandparents (paternal) in PG County, MD. He graduated from Potomac High School in 1988 and attended Strayer University, where he received his degree in accounting. Bess met his better half, Naomi, in September of 1993. They got hitched May 24, 1995, and were blessed with five children all together. He was a very supportive husband and father - always pushing his children to strive for the best. His heart was loving and forgiving. Along with his family, he was a member of Paramount Baptist Church (Washington, DC) for many years. He served on the Deacon Board, Trustee Board, and also sang on the choir - although he wasn't known for carrying a tune! Bess worked as an accountant for several different organizations before owning his own tax business. He enjoyed conversing with people from all walks of life; always wanting to help someone out. June 2014, the Bess family moved to Houston, Texas, until his final days. For many years, Bess struggled with health issues. Through his battle of diabetes and renal failure he remained faithful in his walk of Christianity. He attended Miracle City Church at Paul Revere Middle School of Houston, TX.
Bess leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories with his wife: Naomi Bess; children: Cheryl, Tyiesha, Kiara (Ronald Mapps), Michael (Nancy Stanley), and Carmen; grandchildren: A'myia, A'liyah, and Ronald Jr; siblings: Shanni, Lawrence Jr. and Jackie. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
