Mrs. Carolyn Grant Obituary

Carolyn Ann Wren Grant was born on January 2, 1954 to Ernestine Wren and Peter Roy Gilmore in Houston, TX. 

 

She attended Houston public schools and graduated from San Jacinto High School. She completed her secondary education at Texas Southern University (Bachelors in Psychology) and Prairie View A&M (Masters in Counseling). 

 

She accepted Christ at an early age and served the Lord throughout her life. She attended Greater Morning Star and later joined Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member and servant until her call to her heavenly home.  

 

She married Herman Grant on July 27, 1974. To their union, they raised four children and enjoyed taking family vacations and helping others. 

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Grant; and brother, Mace Gilmore.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Herman Lee Douglas Grant; two sons, Michael Grant (Tawana), and Jonathan Grant (Tamatha); two daughters, Brandi Hampton and Emi Grant; ten grandchildren - Brianna Pointer (Odell), Michael Makoto Yokoyama (Grant), Chris Grant, Hermony Grant, Symphony Grant, Isaiah Grant, Jacob DiPretore, Saniyah Grant, Jameson DiPretore and Ariyah Grant; two great-grandchildren, Alaya Pointer and Aaron Pointer; three brothers, Ernest Wren (Veronica), Charles Taylor and David Gilmore (Jessie); Mother-in-Love, Patricia Grant; bonus siblings: Joyce Meri Grant, Glory Churchwell (Darryl),  Lois Gaston (Robert), Stephanie Porter (Ivan), Bobbie Daniel (Sam), Glenda Payne (Irvin), Sharon Mitchell (Osby); special nieces, Tiffany Barnes (Roy), Tarryl Churchwell, Trenise Gaston, Roshonda Green, Jocelyn Jones (Donald), Jamye (Stephen) Joseph ; special friends, Phyllis Alexander, Deborah Brown, Patricia Horace, Linda Johnson, Jocelyn Jones, Brenda King, Alcena Mouton, Wanda Roberts, Delores Saddler, Johnnie Smith; and a host of Godchildren, relatives, church family and friends.
