Mrs. Clara Smith Obituary

On February 13, 1948, born in Fort Worth, Texas to Pearlie Mae Miles and Paul Lewis Carroll was a beautiful baby girl, Clara Marie (Ree)…Clara spent all of her formative years in Houston, Texas and is a proud graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School, class of 1965, Received her B.A. and MBA from Letourneau, University.  To know Clara is to know that she loved life.  The center of her joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Clara loved the Lord and gave her life to Christ at an early age.  She was a member of numerous social clubs and community organizations, actually too many to count.  Clara loved cruising and cruise ships, she kept her bags packed and was always ready to travel the high seas.   She loved the babies at Bethel’s Family Christian Academy.  On November 23, 2018, God blessed her to marry the love of her life, Brother Roland Smith, Sr.  He was the apple of her eye and the person who brought joy to her life.

When you think about Clara, her infectious smile, wise counsel, stern advice yet loving demeanor all of which will be her legacy.  She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Pastor/ Mayor Michael Evans, Sr. (Lisa), Michelle Evans, Vanetta Phillips (Terrence)...Her bonus children, Willie Ned III (Mesha), Marc Alexander, Philomena Ned, Roland Smith II, Jon Ned, Chelanda Smith (Leroy), and Chadrick Smith.  Her grandchildren: Brianna Evans, Michael "Tony" Evans Jr. (Jade), Richard “Tiger” Evans (Atlantis), Dillon Brown, Londyn Phillips, Terrence Phillips II, Maddox Phillips, Caiden, Chandan, Sir “Yoyo”, Taylor, Domonique, Desirae, Jacy, Jaide, Jayla.  Great Grandchildren: Rhylee, Ivy, and Corey Jr.  Her siblings: Peggy Johnson, Paul Caroll, and Carl Caroll.  A host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.  She is joined in heaven by her grandparents: Alive & Berl Greer, father Paul Lewis Caroll, mother Pearlie Mae Sledge and brother James Caroll Sr.
