Earnestine was born on January 10, 1951 in Arcola, Tx
to James (Sr.) and Phillippe Williams. She was the 4th
of 12 children born to this union. She attended Oak
Lane Elementary in Arcola and graduated from John
Foster Dulles High School in 1969. At an early age, she
was baptized at New St Phillip Baptist Church under
the leadership of Reverend J.N. Williams.
Earnestine was always an intellectual and enjoyed
discussing the politics of the day. She had a wellrounded
career and lived in service to others. She
entered the military in 1974 and served her country as
an Air Traffic Controller in the U.S. Air Force and the
U.S. Navy. In 1995, she retired from the U.S. Army
after 21 years of military service. Upon leaving the
military, she, again retired as a civil servant of the U.S.
Postal Service and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
She continued to assist in the needs of veterans and
contribute to the needs of various community
organizations and endeavors until her passing.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Sam
Quinan, Jr.; one son, LaRern Ricardo Hagan; 2
daughters by marriage, Demetria Rutherford and
Kendall Quinan; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Roberta
Quinan; 4 brothers, Monroe Williams (Sherry), Donald
Ricky Williams, Charles R. Williams (Sherry Ann), and
Larry E. Williams (Ladi); 4 sisters, Rutha M. Pickett,
Verna M. Zellars (Ellis), Thema J. Williams, and Veeda
V. Williams; an abundance of nieces & nephews and a
host of other relatives and friends. Earnestine (“Stine”,
