Edna was born Edna Faye Williams on July 19, 1946 to Hallie Bird Hughes-Ivey and Claude Williams Sr. She had two sisters, Gracie Lindsey and Rosalyn Baker; two brothers, Claude Williams Jr and Michael Williams as well as two step sisters, Sammie Lee Hawkins and Ida Mae Sipsey.
She grew up in Third Ward and South Union and attended Dodson Elementary. From there She attended Attucks Middle School and finished from Worthing High School in 1966.
When she was six, she met Raymond Baylor who lived across the street. They grew up together and got married on December 9, 1967. To this union, two children were born, Trininia Nichole and Raymond II.
In 1982, she became an entrepreneur and began the journey of Edna Faye’s Flower Shop. She worked as an event planner until her retirement in 2018. Christ was always a part of her life. She was a member of Holy Bible Missionary Baptist Church for most of her life under the late Pastor Brown and Pastor Ardoin. She ended this earth journey a member of Greater St. Matthew Church under the leadership of Rev. Booker.
She was a devoted wife of 53 years to Raymond until his death in March of 2020. She was a loving and supportive mother to Nickie and Raymond from infancy into adulthood. She was always there for friends and family whenever they needed her.
Edna departed this life on December 4, 2020 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her mother (Hallie Hughes-Ivey), her father (Claude E Williams Sr.), sister (Gracie Lindsey), step-sisters (Ida Mae Sipsey and Sammie Lee Hughes), brothers (Claude E. Williams Jr. and Michael Williams), a grandson (Dwight Christian Baylor) and the love of her life, her husband forever (Raymond Baylor).
She leaves to cherish her memory, two children Trininia Nichole “Nickie” (Mark), and Raymond Baylor II (Ebony). She also leaves five grandchildren; Raymond Baylor III (Tyler), Jalen Crossland, Ivan Crossland, Lorayia Baylor and Aaron Crossland along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Edna was the life of any party and she will be missed dearly.
