The Legacy of Linda J. White
Linda Joyce White was born on February 4, 1945, to the late Mason and Augustine Jones in Beaumont, Texas. She was the fifth child of twelve children. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers (Robert, Jimmie, and Alex), and six sisters (Billie Raye, Peggy Lavinia, Mary Lucy, Patricia, Carolyn Faye, Brenda Kaye).
Linda’s love for God began at a young age in Beaumont, Tx in her childhood church home of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. After moving to Houston, she united with East Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (Rev. H.B. Sampson), Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church (Rev. Asa Sampson), and after moving to Missouri City, Greater Saint Matthew Missionary Baptist Church pastored by the late Rev. Gusta Booker II and the late Rev Ronnie Booker. She loved all her pastors and appreciated current pastor Rev. Gusta Booker, III. She loved serving God working on usher boards, Sunday school, children ministries, and helping hands care groups. She was always a consistent member who shared her faith with all she encountered.
Linda had a lifelong love for education to improve her talents and abilities. She attended Texas Southern University and other institutions of higher education to study math, real estate, and insurance. She graduated from Charlton Pollard High School in 1962. She was a member of many school organizations including the honor society, twirlers, and home economic clubs. She continued her relationship with Charlton Pollard graduates as an active member of the alumni association, but her great accomplishment from those high school years was the developing love with her one and only “Henry Lloyd”. She met the love of her life, Henry Lloyd White, in high school and married him on March 8, 1963. Their marriage lasted almost 63 years, but the love that started in high school spanned a phenomenal 65 years until her death. To this union, three children were born to seal their legacy of family. The couple moved to Houston in 1965 as Linda continued school and Henry found better working opportunities. They purchased their first home in the South Park area of the city where they lived 12 years. In 1979, they moved to Missouri City where she and Henry remained for more than 45 years welcoming family, friends, and all of those connected with them. Their loving home helped to build community amongst all who encountered them. Linda loved people and warmed hearts through her love of cooking, baking, and sewing with her faith intermingled through her helping actions.
Linda worked for the United States Postal Service for 34 years. She began that journey when it was still the United States Postal Department. That was a career she was dedicated to and committed her excellence. She was a clerk in various stations as Highland Village, Sharpstown, Julius Melchor, Harwin Annex, Demoss, and Westchase Finance. She developed lasting friendships with many coworkers that she loved such as Jeanette, Rose, Margaret, Walter, Mary Anne, and others. She also worked at various real estate agencies, Royce Homes, and David Weekley Homes as a sales professional.
She lived a beautiful life as a caring nurturer, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. Her life was defined by the countless sacrifices she made for her family, and her love will continue to guide them always.
Left to cherish her memories: Loving husband Henry L. White, three children Stephen L. White, Reginald K. White (Chandra), and Rachelle L. Pugh (Jamahl). Four grandchildren Taylor D. White, R.
