Lucille Burks Woodard, affectionately known as “LuWoodard,” passed away peacefully on
August 21,2025 at the age of 81, surrounded by LOVE ONES. She was a cherished mother,
grandmother, sister and friend.
Born on May 6, 1944 in a small town called Bordersville, Texas to Lenard Charles Burks Sr. and
Willie Mae Poe. Lucille lived a life filled with Love, faith and devotion to her family. She was
married to Wilson Woodard Sr., and together they built a legacy of children, Yolanda R. Taylor,
Tonya Woodard Evans, and Wilson Woodard Jr., 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a
host of nieces and nephews.
Lucille was known for her continuous hard works throughout her community and determined to
serve and encourage the youth as their Sunday school Teacher, she drove miles transporting
them to church and choir rehearsals. She found joy in to make a difference in the lives of the
Less fortunate. She was a master at fundraising for the community. Touching countless Lives
with kind heart, beautiful smile, generosity and lovable humor. She was a shared delight! One
of her best attributes, was her brilliant Business mind, using strategies in the Real Estate
Industry for 40+ years as Broker of LuWoodard & Assocates. She had a way of negotiating deals
and successfully winning peoples confidents on bids, putting homebuyers in their dream homes
like no other. “She had a savvy and passion like no other, when doing her work.” She made her
money and paid her Tithes and Offering, as well as a lot of Light Bills for others too! She was
LOVED by many and HATED by few!
She is preceded in death by her late husband Wilson Woodard Sr., her father L.C Burks Sr. and
mother Willie Mae Poe, her two sisters Lillie Montgomery and Laverne Williams and the eldest
brother L.C. Burks Jr.
She’s survived by 3 children, Yolanda R. Taylor, Tonya W. Evans and Wilson Woodard Jr., her
grandchildren Chassidy, Dontavion, Jordan, Charity, Vaughn Jr., Glenn, Shane and Robin, 2 great
grandchildren Jayla and Sir Kingston. 1 Brother Otis Burks Sr. of Humble, Texas, and a Host of in
laws, nieces and nephews, son in laws and daughtering laws, who will forever cherish her
memories.
