Theresa Simon, born on June 4, 1942, to Semien and Bernadette Simon of Ville Platte, Louisiana, embraced a life devoted to serving Jesus Christ since an early age. After a lifetime of unwavering commitment, God granted her eternal rest by welcoming her home.
Known affectionately as Mama, T., Mama T. and Ms. T. within her biological family and beyond, Theresa lived a purposeful life dedicated to God's work. Her energy, love, and intolerance for anything less than excellence defined her as she undertook the responsibility of caring for numerous children, including her younger siblings, the ailing, and served as a Professional Caretaker for decades, extending her love and assistance.
A devout Deaconess, Theresa actively supported the youth department, contributing to her church's growth through fundraising with her renowned boudin, gumbo, and sauce piquant. Her impact reached beyond her familial roles, as she excelled as a wife, mother to her children and bonus children, and a dedicated member of her community. Theresa consistently prayed for guidance to lead a life that would bring pleasure to God.
Theresa's life was marked by love and loss. Preceded in death by her first husband, Horace Poullard, she later remarried Minister Fletcher Willis. She mourned the passing of her daughter Elva Poullard Fennell, bonus daughter/niece Mary Ann Simon Richardson, son-in-law Pastor Ronald K. Mouton, goddaughter Angie LaRose, and great-grandson Lincoln Asher Dean, as well as eight brothers and seven sisters, including bonus siblings.
Her memory lives on through her cherished children: Morris Poullard, Suzanne Mouton, Loretta (Rita) Poullard Johnson (Kelvin), Muriel Johnson, Lerlene Willis, Kevin Richardson, and bonus daughter Tina Stevenson (Michael). Theresa is survived by three brothers, Gustave Simon Sr., Hamp Joseph Ceaser (Cleo), Rev. Calvin Ceaser (Viola), and four sisters: Eva Ceaser, Loritha LaRose, Mary J Porter (Henry), and Juanita Ceaser. She is also survived by two bonus brothers, George R. Deville and Terry W. Deville. Theresa leaves behind 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom cherish the memories of her love and kindness.
