Pastor Kerry Carroll Sr. Obituary
Kerry Renard Carroll was born on May 08, 1966 to Harvey Lee Carroll and Birdola Carroll in Lubbock, Texas, the first of two sons. The family moved to Houston in May of 1967. Kerry graduated from Lamar High School in HISD and went on to attend classes at Prairie View A&M University and the University of Houston. Kerry was employed by several financial institutions in the Houston area, at the time of his passing, he was an Officer on the Construction Draw Team at Bank of America.
Kerry received Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of thirteen. He accepted his call to preach as a teen and preached his first sermon at the age of 16, at Outreach Missionary Baptist Church. Kerry would continue to faithfully preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the rest of his life. He served as Youth Pastor at St. Mark Baptist Church. For the last 29 years, he served diligently at the Rivers of Water Church (ROW) as Member of the Board of Directors, Assistant Director of Ministries, and later, as Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Pastor Robert E. Drake, Sr. until Pastor Drake Sr.’s passing on February 8, 2019. Kerry continued to serve as Assistant Pastor under the current ROW Church Pastor, Pastor Robert E. Drake, II.
On January 31, 1989, Kerry married Bessie Marguerite Ferguson. The Lord blessed them to serve Him together for 31 happy years. Two sons were born to this union: Kerry Renard Carroll, Jr., and Jonathan Paul Carroll. It gave him great joy to see both sons serving God in the ministry of reconciliation.
Kerry was a banker, an avid car enthusiast, a lover of gospel quartet music and a fan of the Houston Texans, Rockets and Astros but his overarching passion in life was serving His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ wherever He would lead him. This would lead him to mission fields here in Houston, in the Caribbean (Aruba) and in Africa (Uganda). He looked forward to continued service not only in this life, but also in the Lord’s Presence.
Kerry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bessie; sons Kerry (Anjelica) and Jonathan (Raquel); granddaughter (Camille); mother Birdola Mayes; brother Harvey Duane Carroll (Veronica); uncles John Carroll (Julia), Noah Mayes (Brenda), Willie Mayes (Lolita) John Mayes ( Cynthia); aunts Gladys Lewis, Alice Coke, Sandra Mayes; the entire fellowship of the Rivers of Water Church, and a host of family and friends.
