Pastor Raford Lee Davis, Jr.
Raford Lee Davis, Jr. was born on November 16, 1942, to Raford Lee Davis, Sr. and Lillian Hatch Davis. He accepted Christ at the early age of eight years old and was baptized at True Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Williams Bowie. Raford attended Booker T. Washington High School. After his High School years and coming of age, he took on employment at Houston Weingarten. It was during this time he met the love of his life, Mrs. Peggy Ann Lee. This relationship lasted for two years before they united in holy matrimony on June 25, 1966. From this beautiful union, two children were born, Marlin and A'Lechia. After two years at Houston Weingarten, he was called to serve in the United States Army where he served for four years, and this included a tour of duty in Korea. Raford was then employed by Hughes Tools, Southern Pacific Railroad and Cameron Iron Works. He joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in June of 1973. He was ordained as a Pastor in 1983. Pastor Raford L. Davis, Jr. was given a vision from the Lord to organize and find Willowridge Baptist Church. He started the church with seven adults and two children. The Lord began to consistently ass to his flock while he was pastoring. He attended Texas Southern University and Southwest Theological Seminary School. He pastored Willowridge Missionary Baptist Church for Thirty years before his retirement. He was a faithful servant to God and led many souls to the Lord until his health began to fail him.
Pastor Raford Lee Davis, Jr. is preceded in death by his lovely wife of Forty-Four years, Peggy Davis; his only sister, Joyce Davis Drake; his father, Raford Lee Davis, Sr. and his mother, Lillian Davis.
Pastor Raford Lee Davis, Jr. is survived by his children, Marlin Davis and A'Lechia Taylor (Willie); five grandchildren, Kennedy, Marlin II (Moo-Moo), Willie (Quad), Alexzandria (Alex) and Maddox (Bo); three brothers, Dwight Davis (Gayle), Larry Davis (Jeanette) and Doyle Davis (Carolyn); one Goddaughter, Jacora Glenn; along with a host of other relatives and close friends.
